Three-point lighting 
This image from Titanic has a three-point lighting. There is light coming from behind the stairs which is the backlighting, there is light coming from the left of the photo which is the key light and there is also a lamp shade and this is the fill light as it is dimmer. The three-point lighting creates different shadows and relflections in this shot which adds to the caotic scene.

I chose this image from the Wizard of Oz for show the use of setting. This shot has been filmed in a studio as the setting is stylised and fake. This shot indicates that this scene is in a pretend fictional place as the setting is unrealistic.

This image from Harry Potter has a low-key lighting. This is so that the shot look scary and frightening and suggests that the characters can't see where they are going.

This image from the movie Clockwork orange is a good example of lighting. The only light in this shot is the back light therefore not allowing the audience to see the characters faces. This use of light creates the effect that the characters are dangerous, mysterious and sinister. The large silote shadows make the characters seem bigger and scarier than they are. There is also a tramp in the frame which also makes the characters seem more powerful as the tramp is lying on the floor. The image has a high contrast which makes the character look bolder and sharper.

The image is from the film the Phantom of the opera. The costumes in this frame are obvious and showy and this film was set in the early 20th century and therefore people dressed more extravagantly. The womens costume is cultural and helps set the scene for the movie.

I chose this shot from The Godfather to show use of composition. This image has been framed so that the audience can see all of the man's body but only the womens face. This framing creates the effect that he is more powerful and important than her. The fact that she is sitting on the floor holding his hand while he sits on a chair not even looking at her suggests that she looks up to him and the composition shows this literally as she is looking up to him from the floor.
Colour and tone
I chose this example from the Shawshank redemption for colour and tone. The frame has been given a blue tint to create a cold and gloomy effect, it also quite grainy and the colours look naturalistic.

This photo from the movie The Hangover is a good example for acting and figure movement as the characters have been choreographed within the frame to look as though they dont want to be with each other as they are standing apart and looking away, and it is clear from their body language and expressions that they are in a crisis. The audience knows this because one of the men has a baby, another looks hungover and the other man is holding ice to his mouth.
